Michigan Voters Should Avoid the Disruption of a Constitutional Convention

Voters will be asked this November whether they want to set up a special convention to draft an entirely new state constitution. They should say no. If voters opt to convene a new constitutional convention (called con-con), the state will be subjected to uncertainty about its form of state government and tax structure for two years or more, and will be embroiled in bickering over every divisive issue debated here over the past two decades. That's energy better spent on luring jobs and investment.

In Challenging Economic Times, U-M helps Launch 10 New Startup Companies

U-M helped launch 10 startups last year and licensed 97 innovative technologies to industry, while university researchers reported 290 new inventions. The 97 technology agreements tie a university record set four years ago, according to Tech Transfer. The 10 startups, up from eight the previous year, bring the university’s total over the past decade to 93.
