Michigan Tech Opens New Research Center

One could argue there has never been a better time for Michigan Technological University to unveil a $25 million research facility to address the most pressing issues of the Great Lakes. On Thursday, the school in the Upper Peninsula’s northwestern corner will dedicate its new 50,000-squarefoot Great Lakes Research Center along the Keweenaw Waterway — a short boat ride from Lake Superior. The center and its faculty are dedicated to researching the Great Lakes’ issues and helping map a course for managing the world’s largest source of fresh water.

New Patent Procurement Clinic At Wayne Law Offers Qualifying Clients Free Legal Services

The Wayne State University Law School is the first in the state and among fewer than 20 law schools nationwide selected by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to participate in a pilot Patent Procurement Clinic program that will provide free legal services and an expedited patent application process to qualifying clients.

The Wayne State University College of Nursing has received a grant of nearly $3.4 million from the 21st Century Community Learning Center, funded by the Michigan Department of Education. The grant funds an after-school and summer enrichment program to prepare 1,250 high school students for admission to college and careers in health care.
